A compliant chimney is a guarantee of safety!

 

Fireplaces must meet the standards of design CAN / CSA-A405.

 

 

Today, with the most recent residences, pre-built chimneys are more popular, being less expensive and easier to install. They must respond to the S / 629 M standards.

 

 

If an inspection by the Municipality reveals irregularities that could be dangerous, it may require the owner to undertake at its own expense an expert for further inspection. If this inspection revealed the existence of nonconforming items, the owner would have to change these, thus causing potentially huge disbursed.

 

 

Many fires are caused by non-compliance of the fireplace or chimney. If a landlord fails to inspect them in order to ensure compliance, he may be held liable if a fire occurs.
